Year in review: apps for better lives in 2022

At Wave Digital we're proud to build apps that humans need and love alongside inspiring clients that share our passion for creating better lives. Here we share highlights from another extraordinary year of impact for our valued clients and growing team.

Our DNA

Now in our 22nd year, Wave Digital has forged a for-purpose niche within Australia’s app industry. 

“A few years ago, we set out to focus our work in the digital health, wellness, and for-purpose space,” says Guy Cooper, Wave Digital Managing Director.

“At the core of our vision was 'better lives', and working with organisations, businesses, startups, and individuals that share our philosophy.”

This intention has become a reality that's now embedded in our DNA. Today, we work predominantly in the digital health, wellness, and for-purpose space.

Together with clients, we've reimagined what’s possible when it comes to apps. We’ve strategised, designed, developed, maintained, and iterated on apps as a catalyst for better lives, strengthening: 

• tailored health information
• support for cancer patients
• wellbeing with meditation
• a national network of nurses and midwives
• community fundraising for mental health and suicide prevention
• the discovery of inclusive and accessible venues
• health resources in low-resource settings around the world
• customer care in Australian pharmacies
• immediate assistance for seizures and falls.

The year that was

“It’s been a tremendous year,” says Guy. “2022 has been the culmination of years of hard work for our team and the people behind the brands and organisations that we now work with.” 

“Articulating and pursuing our vision for better lives has opened opportunities to work with organisations and individuals that naturally align with our brand, and that we enjoy collaborating with. We really value what they're working to achieve.”

Now, Wave Digital is known for this work. A lot of individuals and organisations come to us specifically for our expertise in building apps for the digital health, wellness, and for-purpose space.

The Push-Up Challenge

One highlight of 2022 has been the chance to collaborate again with The Push-Up Challenge on their iPhone and Android App, to push for better mental health.

Participants across Australia raised $10M+ this year for Movember, Lifeline Australia, and Push For Better Foundation. This was a truly stunning effort and we can’t wait for next year’s Challenge.

Blue Sky Community Services – Let’s Go!

We also designed and built the Let's Go! app for Blue Sky Community Services. The Let’s Go! app offers a user-friendly interface to discover accessible and inclusive businesses and venues across the Mid North Coast of NSW.

The Happy Habit App

We love cheering on our clients and are thrilled to see the trajectory and success of Fleur Chambers, creator of The Happy Habit app. This year, Fleur was awarded the Hermes Creative Award GOLD for the category of ‘Mobile and web based technology’.

Fleur is helping people in 40+ countries to get their daily dose of 'feel good' with The Happy Habit mindfulness app – not to mention online courses, and her new Amazon #1 bestselling book, ‘Ten Pathways: A Framework for Redefining Happiness’.

Therapeutic Guidelines – Guideline Host

Another success story has been Guideline Host – placing locally developed or endorsed guidelines within fast, easy reach of health practitioners in low resource settings around the world.  

After designing and building Guideline Host with the incredible team at Therapeutic Guidelines, we were delighted to collaborate again in 2021 to update the app with new features. Now, in 2022, the apps have been downloaded by 5,000+ healthcare workers across Vanuatu, Fiji, and the Solomon islands.

Better lives for 2023

We also have some exciting projects in the works that will be revealed next year. We’re thrilled to be collaborating with clients to make an impact in the areas of methamphetamine addiction, mental health, and air quality – to name a few.

We're growing

Our team is headquartered in Melbourne and based across Australia – sometimes even on the road with Harrison. After welcoming several new team members this year our growth trajectory is set to continue.
